The Daemon begins to recruit operatives via an on-line game and these individuals further advance Sobol's master-plan to exploit the vulnerability of our electronically linked world. Sebeck reluctantly teams up with computer hacker, Jonathan Ross, who aside from his role in the story serves to explain the technical aspects to Sebeck (and the reader). He has left in place a daemon, a series of linked computer programs, triggered into action by the appearance of Sobol's on-line obituary. What soon becomes apparent is that Sobol has managed to find a way to continue his legacy from beyond the grave. Detective Peter Sebeck's investigation soon reveals that the murders link to Matthew Sobol, a wealthy computer game designer. However, Sobol has an air tight alibi: he was dead before the murders occurred. This terrifically fast-paced techno-thriller opens with two grotesque murders.
